Together with Authentication Manager and a SecurID token, this solution creates a virtually impenetrable barrier against unauthorized access, protecting data and applications from potentially devastating accidental or malicious intrusion. When a logon is attempted, the Authentication Agent for AS/ 400 challenges the user to provide a valid user ID, Personal Identification Number (PIN) and a unique, randomly generate passcode from his or her SecurID token. These credentials are passed from the Authentication Agent to the Authentication Manager for authentication. The logon process is fast and easy. Easily integrates with your AS/400 environment The Authentication Agent for AS/ 400 protects system resources through all types of AS/ 400 access. Whether a user is connecting to the system from a dumb terminal, a terminal emulator on a PC or through a direct dial-up connection, they will be prompted for their SecurID passcode before being granted access. The user experience Using the protection of two-factor authentication for your AS/400 users is a simple process. When the user connects their terminal to the AS/400 they are immediately prompted for a username, a PIN and a SecurID tokencode. Behind the scenes, the Authentication Agent passes this information, in an encrypted format, over the network to the Authentication Manager. That information is then matched against the username and token record inside the Authentication Manager database. The Authentication Manager then sends approval or denial notification back to the agent. The process is quick and simple. In addition, users that carry a SecurID hardware token have a portable way to prove their identity to the AS/400 from any terminal allowed to connect to the system.
