The SecurID® 1100 smart card provides an easy and convenient strong authentication solution that positively identifies network and system users to prevent unauthorized access. Fully compatible with Security Dynamics' Authentication Manager security solutions, this new SecurID card provides secure access to information in a new and multi-application smart card form factor. The SecurID 1100 smart card can also be used for other important applications (e.g. e-purse and loyalty programs) or even provide secure physical building access capabilities.

Global demand for network authentication and IT security solutions is dramatically increasing each year as more and more organizations understand the need to protect against unauthorized access to sensitive corporate information. When organizations protect themselves using only static passwords, it is easy to compromise the security of the network system and gain unauthorized access to confidential and often extremely sensitive information. To truly authenticate each user, you must positively identify them using two factors — something they know, such as a secret PIN, and something they have, such as a SecurID authenticator.

The result is a proven smart card solution that addresses any organization's security needs.

Seamless support for all Authentication Manager enterprise security solutions
The SecurID 1100 smart card is designed to work with any Authentication Manager security solution from Security Dynamics, including Authentication Manager applications for dial-up or VPN remote access, local network access and access to Web applications and other mission-critical applications. In some environments — such as dial-up remote access — the SecurID 1100 smart card eliminates the need for the user to type in the SecurID token code that is generated every 60 seconds. This solution offers the same level of security as any SecurID authenticator, only now the process is more convenient and easier-to-use than ever.

Secure storage of the SecurID seed record
The SecurID 1100 smart card is designed to work hand-in-hand with the SecurID soft token application "shell" on the desktop computer. The application shell communicates with the smart card to use the patented SecurID seed record, that is securely stored on the smart card, to strongly authenticate the user.

One form factor that combines network access with physical access
With the SecurID 1100 smart card, organizations can custom order additional features for their smart cards that provide physical building access by incorporating magnetic stripes or holograms. More information is available about these physical personalization features and other custom features from Security Dynamics or your authorized reseller.

Support for multi-applications on a single smart card
In addition to the extra physical security features offered, the SecurID 1100 smart card also provides organizations with more than 7K bytes of free EEPROM memory space to add additional applications to the smart card. Based on the Gemplus multi- application (MPCOS) smart card, the SecurID 1100 smart card provides a platform for other applications such as electronic-purse applications that work in the corporate cafeteria or loyalty programs that work with airlines or car rental companies. To add applications, organizations can work with Gemplus' worldwide integration partners to select from hundreds of existing applications or develop custom applications for a particular environment.

Easy to install and use
The SecurID 1100 smart card is designed to be user friendly and simple to use. To activate the card, the user simply installs the appropriate SecurID soft token application shell on his or her desktop and activates the SecurID 1100 smart card and reader.
